- Palm/Explore is going away
- After almost three years of dedicated service to the NCCS user community, the Palm/Explore cluster will be decommissioned on September 30, 2008 and will be replaced with a new system.

- In a feasibility study funded by NASA's HEC Program, the IBM Cell Broadband Engine significantly outperformed conventional processor cores.
